Problem: DENTAL CROWDING IN GROWING CHILD
Orthodontic treatment plan: Non extraction orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance
Case Description
Best time to start Orthodontic treatment is when the child is growing. In growing children jaw bones can be moulded easily to achieve better jaw proportions. Certain teeth arrangements in growing children can be detrimental to normal growth of jaws leading to disproportionate jaw growth. These can be identified and corrected immediately so that they do not have detrimental effects on jaw growth. Narrow jaws can be expanded to increase the space available to accommodate erupting teeth which otherwise would come crooked or protrude.
This young child had opportunity to visit us at the right age. She had severely crooked and blocked out teeth. Orthodontic treatment was initiated to improve the arch form, generate space for teeth alignment and guide the erupting teeth into correct position. 18 months of orthodontic treatment not only improved her smile but also improved the functional occlusion as well as ease of maintaining oral hygiene.
