PROBLEM : Dental crowding with deep bite and incisor proclination. Missing lower left canine
TREATMENT : Non extraction orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance
Case Description
Retruded central incisors limit the space available for lateral incisors causing them to protrude. Retruded incisors also restrict the growth of lower jaw causing it to remain small in growing children. It may also, push the jaws behind causing jaw joint ( TMJ ) pain / discomfort and clicking in function.
This girl also had impacted lower canine which was unfavourably placed in lower jaw bone. Challenge was to achieve good functional occlusion, without increasing overjet, despite missing lower canine. Careful treatment planning achieved the treatment goals in predetermined time.
